Add pizzazz to your meals. Spend an afternoon with a friend, making a batch of this delicious chutney with always available carrots. Catch up on all the latest news, while you chop the vegetables and let this rich flavored chutney simmer to tantalize your family’s taste buds. Then share the results of your work with even more friends by creating a gift for those you care about!

About Golden Gossip Apple Chutney: A variety of apples infused with mustard seeds, whole cloves, carrots, sugar, a pinch of cayenne, onions, dates, ginger, garlic and other delectables of the season, come together to make a delicious accompaniment to cheese, crackers, poutry, pork, beef, fish or your favorite grilled vegetables!

Making your chutney into a gift!

While the chutney is processing you'll make —

  • Your own label for your jar
  • An instructional card on how and what to use chutney on
  • You'll pick from fabric, paper, feathers, brick-brack or bring your own crafting material to to complete your gift in a jar!
  • We’ll demo other techniques of making gifts in jars.

APPLE BUTTER Demo!

  • We’re going to talk about/demostrate making apple butter
  • Applebutter takes 24 hours to cook in a crockpt on low heat but you can make it on your stove, too!
  • We'll talk about safely processing Apple butter and provide a recipe for you to try at home!

Santa Monica Farmers Market Virginia Avenue Park Monthly preserving classes are held in the Thelma Terry Workshop 3 at Santa Monica Farmer's Market Virginia Avenue Park

Every fourth Saturday of the month From 9:30 am – 12:00 noon. You must be over the age of 12 years to attend. Classes are free, but registration is required.

Parking Info:

Parking is available at Pico Blvd at 23rd Street (farmers market parking) OR in the Virginia Ave Park Lot, accessed from Virginia Ave (one block north, parallel to Pico Blvd. between Cloverfield and 20th St.).

Overflow Parking is available in the Venice Family Clinic parking lot (0.4 miles away) located at 2509 Pico Blvd. Use any parking space facing a wall.
